My novels explore the inspiring life of St. Catherine of Siena, a figure whose faith and determination brought hope during the 14th century. Born in 1347—just months before the epidemic of the bubonic plague ravished the world—she was a mystic, scholar, and advocate for peace within the Church and society.

Caterina’s spiritual journey embraced deep devotion and service, fueled by divine visions that shaped her understanding of God’s love. Caterina courageously urged rulers and popes to seek justice during challenging times, and she succeeded—yet in unexpected ways.

In a world seeking guidance, Caterina’s life offers valuable lessons on resilience and spiritual growth.

Medieval mystics such as Julian of Norwich, Catherine of Siena, Angela of Foligno and the unknown author of The Cloud of Unknowing can seem unreachable in today’s world. How can we relate to personalities drawn to ecstatic raptures and extraordinary closeness with the Spirit of God?

My answer is a firm and resounding yes! Although most of us aren’t mystics in the traditional sense, we can still touch the hem of God’s robe and draw ever closer to His Spirit.

My Travels

My next European adventure will be in October 2025. Following in the footsteps of Caterina of Siena, my husband and I will travel to Provence and various locations in Italy, including:

France:

  • Marseilles, Avignon, and Sainte-Baume Cave (Mary Magdalene’s cave in Provence)

Italy:

  • Genoa, Lucca, Pisa, Assisi, Montefalco, Montepulciano

  • And obviously Siena!
