Bringing Medieval Mystics Back to Life

Fiction inspired by saints. Reflections for the soul. Stories that speak to suffering and transformation.

My novel, World Between Worlds, is set in the fascinating yet tumultuous fourteenth century. A time of great turmoil—including famine, extreme social unrest, pestilence that wiped out half the population, and a Church in disarray—the fourteenth century also saw a blossoming of great mystics and saints who held the fabric of a crumbling society together. St. Julian of Norwich, the unknown author of The Cloud of Unknowing, William Flete, St. Brigid of Sweden —

and St. Catherine of Siena

All of these personalities added shape and form to a society on the crux of destruction. They provided relief, hope, inspiration, faith and mystical wisdom.

And that’s where my tale begins …

World Between Worlds tells the true story of one of the most dynamic personalties of the Middle Ages—Catherine (Caterina) of Siena. Set in the tumultuous fourteenth century, World Between Worlds takes readers on a journey across the landscape of medieval Tuscany, through the eyes of a mystic who is entangled in political chaos, social upheaval, and spiritual awakening.
